Genesis

Genesis 1:1

Jesus Powered - Time and SpaceThe first book in the Bible; the word genesis means beginning, and the book of Genesis is in the beginning of the Bible and talks about our beginning. It is not just the beginning of Jewish people and the genealogy of Jesus, and it is not even just about the beginning of human history, but it tells us about the beginning of time itself.

“…the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity…” — Isaiah 57:15

God lives outside of time, in eternity, nobody created God, He has always been and will always be, He just is. From eternity, He create time and space, He created the beginning. He created time for us to perceive the progression of events that led from the fall of Adam to the death of Jesus and our way to salvation. With this perception, we can see the cause and effect of our sins and the way to redemption.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In the beginning of what, in the beginning of time and space. But if God was in that time and space, how can He create the heavens and the earth? It must be that He is outside of time and space to be able to create it. This is what eternity must be, that it is not just an infinitely long time, but that there is no time at all. There is no end because there was no beginning, eternity, just is. Eternal life with Jesus is just that, we will be with Him forever and ever, but without time, we will just be with Him.

This article, The Most Important Verse in the Bible?, by Henry M. Morris, Ph.D. explains this verse much better than I could.

Jesus is Eternal
