Missionaries

What is a missionary?

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”  (Mark 16:15)

Jesus commanded His disciples to go and tell the whole world of the great news of His resurrection, that is why christians go to remote parts of the world to spread the word.  Some of us do not feel called to go to other countries, fortunately, there a need for mission work wherever you are, in your very home town.  For me, I am hoping this blog will serve that purpose in the cyber world.

Some people ask, “Why do you christians always try to convert people to your religion?”  That’s because we know the Bible to be true and the words and instructions contained in it are the words of God.  The Bible teaches that we are all sinners in need of a Savior and from my own past experiences and “conversion,” I whole heartily believe that.  And because of that truth and of the consequences of unbelief, I try to tell all the people I know about Jesus and of all the reasons why I believe in the inerrancy of the Bible.

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”  How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?  And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent?  (Romans 10:13-15a)

Every person is given the choice to call upon the name of Jesus and to turn from their sin but someone needs to go and preach the gospel.  Of course, this is not the only way that God can work, He is Omnipotent and can work in miraculous ways, but it gives Him great joy to see His children work for Him.
