    Merry Christmas!

This has been a crazy year, filled with ups and downs and some scary moments.  The biggest event would be from the second half of the year when my wife was diagnosed with brain cancer, it is definitely a life changing event. It has however, shown us the love and care of all our friends and family and it has brought us all closer together. We have been drifting away from God and this event has steered us back on course and to again rely on Him for all our needs.  Jesus is Provider and Comforter, He has given us all we need to deal with this, sometimes before we…

What Cancer Cannot Do – Part 3

    3. Cancer cannot conquer my mind or my heart because I have the mind of Christ 16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ 1 Cor 2:16 (Cancer is in the world; Jesus is in me [Gal. 2:20]; Greater is He [1 Jn. 4:4]) God has given us His mind and His heart, He has filled us with His Spirit.  He is also greater than anything that is in this world including diseases and nothing can overcome what He has blessed us with. I pray, Lord, that you will continue to fill us and refresh our…

What Cancer Cannot Do – Part 2

    2. Cancer cannot cancel my being an heir of God through Christ 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Gal 4:6, 7 Because we accepted Jesus into our hearts, He has filled us with His Spirit and He has made us into sons of God. Just as our earthly father would be with us through sicknesses, helping and supporting, it is even more true of our heavenly Father. We will inherit the kingdom…

What Cancer Cannot Do – Part 1

As you may or may not have known, my wife and I have been battling brain cancer for the past four months.  It has been a great struggle to balance work, care giving, and everything that we have to do in the home.  I don’t know why I have been trying to do it all by myself for so long, well, you can guess if you noticed the two year lapse in the posts, I have not been very diligent in my relationship with Jesus. I finally remembered why I started this blog in the first place, that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  I am…

    Philippians 4:1-7

1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. 2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. Paul is reminding them of how he loves them and how he showed his love for them.  Now he is urging them and us to show love to one another and help our fellow Christian brothers and sisters. 4…

    Christmas Idea

I received this in an email and I thought it was a great idea, so I thought I’d post it here. Christmas 2011 — Birth of a New Tradition As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Americans with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods — merchandise that has been produced at the expense of American labor. This year will be different. This year Americans will give the gift of genuine concern for other Americans. There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by American hands. Yes there is! It’s time to think…

    Philippians 3:12-21

12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the…

    Philippians 3:1-11

1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, Christians are circumcised in the spirit, meaning we have cut off the flesh and fleshly desires.  This relates directly to God’s command to Abraham to circumcise himself and his descendants, it is a symbol of dying to oneself and throwing away fleshly desires.  We should not rely on that part…

    Philippians

The church at Philippi started when Paul and Silas visited there after the Spirit called them to preach the gospel there. (Acts 16:6-10)  They preached to the Jews first, the ones that were praying on the sabbath (Acts 16:11-15), then also to the Gentiles.  The devil was trying to hinder their work there, but God who uses all things for good, made even their imprisonment a catalyst for spreading the gospel. (Acts 16:16-34)  This was the beginning of the Philippian church, they only got stronger. They have sent Paul money to help in his ministry and knowing that Paul was in prison in Rome, they sent a brother in Christ…

    Philippians 2:19-30

19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. 20 For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state. 21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus. 22 But you know his proven character, that as a son with his father he served with me in the gospel. 23 Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it goes with me. 24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself shall also come shortly. Timothy is an…
