Philippians

Philippians 1:19-26

19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Pray for our missionaries, they will get comfort from knowing that their brothers are thinking of them and are supporting them.  God will give them the Spirit and power to hold on through their troubles, but we can be a part of that through prayer.

20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Live a life that is Christ like and He will magnified.  People will see the light that shines in you and will want to know what gives you so much peace and joy through all of life’s trials and tribulations.  Ultimately, even dying, we gain eternal life and the joy of being with Jesus forever, that gives you much greater joy than anything on earth.

22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. 25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, 26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

Even though we would gain much more in death, we are not to seek it.  If we just left, it would be a very selfish thing, especially suicide, all the people that are left behind would feel sorrow and guilt.  It would not be helpful to anyone.  Rather, while living, we can share the Gospel and be a part of the furtherance of His kingdom.  He has given us so much joy in life, the least we can do is to bring a smile to our Heavenly Father’s face as we do His will while we are here.

All the time, God is good.
