A Heavenly Reunion: Reflections on Love, Loss, and Redemption

Last night, I experienced a dream that unfolded like a gripping thriller movie, complete with an emotionally charged climax. In this dream, I found myself in a mysterious lobby, a waiting area on the threshold between the realms of Heaven and Hell. Behind one door loomed a staircase leading downwards to Hell, a sight I dared not even glance at. Instead, I instinctively chose the door that promised ascent, the door to Heaven. Yet, strangely, the stairs behind it descended. Undeterred, I pushed open the door and began my descent. With each level I descended, passing through successive doors, I became aware of two guardians trailing me, brandishing coat hangers…

    Philippians 4:8-13

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. If you are constantly thinking on and thinking about good things then it will come out in whatever you do. If you thoughts are always on pure things, always on love and praiseworthy things, then it will show in what you do…

What Cancer Cannot Do – Part 1

As you may or may not have known, my wife and I have been battling brain cancer for the past four months.  It has been a great struggle to balance work, care giving, and everything that we have to do in the home.  I don’t know why I have been trying to do it all by myself for so long, well, you can guess if you noticed the two year lapse in the posts, I have not been very diligent in my relationship with Jesus. I finally remembered why I started this blog in the first place, that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  I am…

    Philippians 4:1-7

1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. 2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life. Paul is reminding them of how he loves them and how he showed his love for them.  Now he is urging them and us to show love to one another and help our fellow Christian brothers and sisters. 4…

    Philippians 2:1-4

1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Besides persevering with the hope that we have in Christ, another way to conduct ourselves, worthy of the gospel of Christ, is to be humble…
