Philippians

Philippians 4:1-7

1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved. 2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.

Paul is reminding them of how he loves them and how he showed his love for them.  Now he is urging them and us to show love to one another and help our fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

We should be very happy that we are in God’s hands and that our names are written in the Book of Life, that through Jesus, we have eternal life with Him.  Whatever hardships or difficulties we have in this world, we know that it will be over and we will have peace and abundant life with our Savior.  So, rejoice!

5 Let your gentleness be known to all men.

Not only do we help our fellow Christian brothers and sisters, we should show this love to all men and women.  The love and peace that God has freely given us, we can give to others and we would know a little of the joy that God has when He blesses us.

The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Be thankful for the peace and love that Jesus has shown you, there is nothing to be worried about.  God is with us even though we can’t feel it sometimes, but we will soon be able to see and touch Him and bask in His glory, and His peace, and His love. I can’t wait!

God is Peace
